Summary

How did Patroclus and Achilles come to be such close companions? Miller reveals to us how this happened, from the view of Patroclus and how he met Achilles。 Beautiful and tragical, a love story that prevails in Romeo and Juliet form。

I think I want to give it 5, but I have to be completely honest。 It was impossible for me to keep up with the names, maybe that makes me dumb but it's something worth noting。 I still could get the plot fine however & it was really good。 I would recommend to a friend mainly just so you can say you've read it。 The wording was beautiful and the imagery was mind blowing。 The love between character was described in such a way that it felt like loving someone。I am really upset that I didn't cry tho, I I think I want to give it 5, but I have to be completely honest。 It was impossible for me to keep up with the names, maybe that makes me dumb but it's something worth noting。 I still could get the plot fine however & it was really good。 I would recommend to a friend mainly just so you can say you've read it。 The wording was beautiful and the imagery was mind blowing。 The love between character was described in such a way that it felt like loving someone。I am really upset that I didn't cry tho, I was really looking forward to crying since so many people have said it destroyed them。 I DID tear up a tiny bit, but no ugly crying here。。。 Some things were slightly too predictable for me。 。。。more

While there was some really nice poetic language in this book, I found it really dragged for me :( Personally I didn’t think it live up to the hype。 Not a bad read, but not a stand out read either。

Amazing how realistically this transports you into the Ancient Greek world。 Highly recommended。

I thoroughly enjoyed Miller's other novel, Circe, and even chose that for my book club selection some months ago。 I have been meaning to read this novel and finally got around to it。 I loved it as much as Circe。 I attribute that to my long fascination with Greek Mythology, and her wonderful, lyrical writing style。 I feel like I'm right there with the characters as the story unfolds。 It's a perfect way to escape! took awhile to finish just because I was scared to turn every page。 the ending of course I knew was coming but it still shattered my heart into pieces。 All the intimate moments between achilles and patroclus were so overwhelmingly beautiful。 their love was truly pure。 I loved the story and (most) of the characters haha。 would definitely recommend :)

Well written overall, and the ending was beautifully done。 I like Patroclus as a character, but I couldn't find myself very invested in the story itself。 Well written overall, and the ending was beautifully done。 I like Patroclus as a character, but I couldn't find myself very invested in the story itself。 。。。more

After hearing about this book through a few of my friends, I picked it up just to see what all of the excitement was about。 I was not ready to read one of the best books of all time。 After finishing this book, aside from crying my eyes out, one of my first thoughts was how perfect Miller’s storytelling was。 Every word of every sentence had a purpose and every character was beautifully written。 The Song of Achilles describes one of the deepest connections I have ever read about between two people After hearing about this book through a few of my friends, I picked it up just to see what all of the excitement was about。 I was not ready to read one of the best books of all time。 After finishing this book, aside from crying my eyes out, one of my first thoughts was how perfect Miller’s storytelling was。 Every word of every sentence had a purpose and every character was beautifully written。 The Song of Achilles describes one of the deepest connections I have ever read about between two people all while bringing the action and drama that comes with the Trojan War era in Greek mythology。 Miller’s rendition of the story of Achilles and Patroclus is absolutely perfect and I am so excited to read her other work, Circe! 。。。more

AAAAAAA。 I could talk about this books for hours。 The ✨perfect✨ book 100/10。 I would die for this book。 Not gonna lie I cried 5 times while reading this book。 My favorite book by far。 This appealed to my love for Greek mythology but also to my gay romance。 To tell the truth though I tear up every time I think about it。

I feel a bit broken after reading this。 I had previously read Miller’s other novel, Circe, in which I fell in love with her style of writing。 She just has a way of captivating the reader, setting the pace perfectly whilst also building the setting and tone, and taking time to build loveable but complex characters who you become far too attached to。Such was the nature of this book, too。 Even when he acted with unreasonable anger, pride and rage, through the narrative of Patroclus, one cannot help I feel a bit broken after reading this。 I had previously read Miller’s other novel, Circe, in which I fell in love with her style of writing。 She just has a way of captivating the reader, setting the pace perfectly whilst also building the setting and tone, and taking time to build loveable but complex characters who you become far too attached to。Such was the nature of this book, too。 Even when he acted with unreasonable anger, pride and rage, through the narrative of Patroclus, one cannot help but adore Achilles。 You can’t help but root for them。 You can’t help but have your heart ache in advance, if you already know the Iliad and how things end for them both。 This novel further explored the nature of the relationship they shared and it was done with some of the most breathtaking writing I’ve come across。 I very rarely shed actual tears when reading books, even if I am affected by them - but I honestly sobbed at this。This was a piece of art。 All of the stars。 。。。more
